Origin: The Poet Soul of Talented Women and the Eternal Residence of Famous Buildings

The Beginning of Building Name - The Legend of Xue Tao
The soul of Wangjianglou Park is closely connected to the legendary Tang Dynasty poet Xue Tao. Xue Tao (around 768-832 AD), also known as Hongdu, was exceptionally talented and had a poetic name that resonated with famous poets such as Yuan Zhen and Bai Juyi at the time. In her later years, she lived in Chengdu and wrote poems on the banks of the Jinjiang River, leaving behind more than 500 touching poems such as "Farewell to Friends" and "Spring Prayer". In order to commemorate the "Women's School Writer by the Wanli Bridge" in later generations, a pavilion was built next to the well (Xue Tao Well) where she was said to draw water and make paper. The original name was "Chongli Pavilion", which took the meaning of "both beautiful and majestic, with the real name Chengdu" from the Jin Dynasty writer Zuo Si's "Shu Du Fu". Later, it was also known as the "Wangjiang Tower" due to its poetic nickname, which was widely circulated.

The Road of Evolution - From Historical Sites to Parks
The modern layout of Wangjianglou Park is a history of garden construction that has been accumulated over hundreds of years.
The Beginning of the Ming and Qing Dynasties: Since the Ming Dynasty, commemorative buildings related to Xue Tao have been built in the surrounding areas, such as the Zhuojin Tower and the Huanjian Pavilion. In the fifteenth year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1889), Wangjiang Tower (Chongli Pavilion) was officially completed. This four story wooden building, standing at 27.9 meters high, quickly became a landmark along the Jinjiang River.
The embryonic form of the Republic of China: During the Republic of China period, a garden area was gradually formed with Xue Taojing and Wangjiang Tower as the core for people to pay their respects and visit.
National Construction and Expansion: In 1953, the "Wangjianglou Park" was officially established, and large-scale expansion was carried out with "bamboo" as the theme. Rare bamboo species from all over the country were introduced and cultivated, forming the unique pattern of the "Wangjianglou" historical building complex and the "bamboo forest ecological zone" complementing each other today.
Cultural Heritage Upgrade: In 2006, the Wangjiang Tower Ancient Architecture Complex was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relic protection unit. Nowadays, it is not only a leisure paradise for Chengdu citizens, but also a quiet window for domestic and foreign tourists to learn about the poetry and culture of Bashu, appreciate Chinese classical architecture and bamboo art.

Must see Wonders: Symphony of Clear Shadows of Pavilions and Green Waves of Bamboo Sea

The charm of Wangjiang Tower lies in its perfect integration of the beauty and delicacy of classical architecture with the tranquility and elegance of bamboo plants, creating an independent world carrying poetic and picturesque charm in the bustling city.

Natural Creation - The Kingdom of Bamboo and the Rhythm of the River
The "natural" landscape of the park is created with carefully cultivated bamboo forests as the core, creating an urban forest atmosphere.
Bamboo Sea Green Waves: A Living Museum that Breathes
This is a true 'Bamboo Expo', gathering over 200 species of bamboo from western China and Southeast Asia. From the towering bamboo shoots of Nanzhu and Cizhu, to the low and clustered bamboo shoots of Fengwei and Qinsi, to the uniquely shaped bamboo shoots of Renmian and Buddha Belly, a three-dimensional ecological painting with rich layers and evergreen seasons is formed. Strolling along the winding bamboo path, the sunlight shines through the bamboo leaves, casting mottled light and shadow. As the wind blows, the sound of bamboo waves echoes, making it a rare "forest bath" in the city. It is also an excellent classroom for learning plant knowledge and experiencing Eastern bamboo culture.
Jinjiang Sail Shadow: Flowing Millennium Poetry and Painting
Ascending the Wangjiang Tower, leaning against the railing and gazing into the distance, the Jinjiang River (Fuhe River) winds eastward like a jade belt from below. This mother river, which has nourished Chengdu for thousands of years, once witnessed the prosperity of the "Menbo Dongwu Wanli Ship". Today, it is still rippling with blue waves, occasionally dotted with boats and white egrets. The skyline of the city across the river and the upturned eaves of ancient buildings form a vivid picture of a harmonious dialogue between tradition and modernity.

Humanistic Craftsmanship - Poetry Tower Ancient Architecture and Cultural Heritage
Every pavilion and tower here is engraved with historical memories and carries the weight of culture.
Wangjiang Tower (Chongli Pavilion): Flying Pavilion and Flowing Pills by the Jinjiang River
As the soul landmark of the park, this all wooden attic is itself an artistic treasure. Its architectural style blends the characteristics of the north and south. The base of the pavilion is made of rock, with a four story body. The upper two floors are octagonal, and the lower two floors are square, symbolizing "the sky is round and the earth is square". Layer by layer, the eaves are covered with green glazed tiles, the golden roof shines brightly, and the painted red pillars are extremely magnificent. There are ancient and modern couplets hanging inside the building, and the most famous one is undoubtedly "Wangjiang Tower, Wangjiang Stream, Wangjiang Tower, Wangjiang Stream, Jianglou for eternity, Jiangliu for eternity", showcasing its dual artistic conception of geography and culture.
Xue Tao Memorial Hall and Xue Tao Well: The Storage of Talented Women's Fragrant Souls
The memorial hall displays Xue Tao's life, poetry, and his position in literary history. The Xue Tao Well next to it is said to be where Xue Tao drew water and made paper. Since the Ming Dynasty, this well water has been used to make the elegant "Xue Tao Jian", adding to the legendary color of the story. This is the core of pursuing the poetic charm of the Tang Dynasty and experiencing the spiritual world of ancient talented women.
Ancient Architecture Complex: An Elegant Collection of Western Sichuan Gardens
There are also a series of Qing Dynasty buildings in the park, such as Zhuojin Tower, Yinshi Tower, Huanjian Pavilion, and Wuyun Immortal Hall. They are scattered haphazardly along the banks of the Bamboo Grove River, resembling boats or painted boats, with different functions. Together with the Wangjiang Tower, they form a complete ancient architectural complex, reflecting the exquisite and subtle beauty of Western Sichuan gardens.

Photography tips:
The best panoramic camera position is on the other side of the Jinjiang River or outside the park at Jiuyan Bridge, which can capture the complete reflection and river view of Wangjiang Tower.
The best architectural location is at the foot of Wangjiang Tower, looking up at its layered eaves and sky.
The best bamboo scenic spot is located on the bamboo path deep in the park, utilizing the depth of the bamboo forest to capture a serene scene of intertwined light and shadow.
The best humanistic location is in the tea garden, capturing the leisurely life scenes of Chengdu citizens drinking tea, reading newspapers, and setting up dragon gate formations.

Core Experience: Immersive Poetic Life Guide

Furong Ancient Town

Four Must Do Things to Unlock a Complete Journey to Wangjiang Tower
Ascend Jianglou once and read a long couplet
Visit Wangjiang Tower in person, climb layer by layer, and carefully read the plaques and couplets hanging on each floor. At the highest level, leaning against the "beauty leaning against" railing, overlooking the east of Jinjiang, experiencing the vastness of time and space of "Jiang Tower for eternity, Jiang River for eternity", this is a unique ritual of dialogue with history.
Take a bamboo path and discover a hundred different styles
Key: Slow down and observe carefully! The bamboo forest in the park is not only the background, but also the protagonist. In the midst of lush forests and bamboo cultivation, search for the simplicity of Buddha belly bamboo, the golden thread of qin silk bamboo, and the uniqueness of human face bamboo, experience the noble character of bamboo's clarity, serenity, firmness, and strength, and complete a deep exploration of nature and culture.
Brew a bowl of tea and set it back in the Dragon Gate Formation
Choose an outdoor location in a traditional tea house in the park (such as the "Pillow Flow Tea Garden") and order a bowl of Chengdu's characteristic "Three Flowers" tea. Immerse yourself in the local community, listen to the "Dragon Gate Formation" around you (chatting), read newspapers, play mahjong, and experience the most authentic and slowest paced Chengdu afternoon leisure life.
Visit the memorial hall once and search for a strand of poetic soul
At the Xue Tao Memorial Hall, learn about the life anecdotes and literary achievements of this outstanding female poet of the Tang Dynasty. Standing by Xue Tao's well, reminiscing about the scenes of talented women drawing water, making notes, reciting poetry, and singing in harmony, the journey is not just about sightseeing, but also adds a humanistic contemplation and emotion.

Shopping on Nanjing Road in Shanghai was just amazing! It's truly the "First Commercial Street of China", where tradition and modernity blend perfectly. You can find awesome souvenirs and experience the trendy vibes in cool stores. The neon lights at night are just spectacular, shining bright like Times Square in New York. The food here is incredible too. I had a feast for my taste buds. Shanghai, I'll definitely be back!

Day 1 in Zhangjiajie National Forest Park felt like stepping onto Pandora—I’m a huge Avatar fan, and Yuanjiajie’s floating peaks left me breathless. The misty pillars and lush valleys like pure movie magic! Then came Fenghuang Ancient Town, we eat dinner beside the thundering waterfall. It seems Unreal!
